Bows n' Ties n' Things

Good day!! I hope and pray you are having a great week. I have been wrestling with tiredness the last couple days. The Doc says that that a person can have repercussions from the Chemo for up to a year and a half. No fun, but better than having Cancer!!! Anyway....

Look at my Ollie Dollie. Isn't she precious? I still can't believe she is two!

Now see that cute little bow she is wearing. My daughter Elyse is making these cute bows, for little girls or big girls, to sell on Etsy. She is selling them in her Etsy shop here.

She is also making small clutches to carry your wallet, phone and lipstick in.

It has been fun to collaborate with her on her projects and help her in whatever ways needed. A lot of the time I play with My Ollie Dollie, who is always saying, "Come here Yaya!!" And dragging me to see the lizards that are sunning themselves on the concrete wall in the backyard.

I feel so blessed!!!

"Give thanks to The Lord, for He is good! His faithful love endures forever."

1Chronicles 16:34

Be blessed!

The Road Traveled

As we cruise through life as I did, we find that along the way there are bumps and holes in the road. Some of these are speed bumps which make you slow down, some are bumps that make you stop and think, some are pot holes that cause you to take a detour. As you go through life you will see those bumps and pot holes and detours pop up every so often. My cancer was a stop and think bump. There is a song by Casting Crowns called "Who am I?". That is what my bump was asking me.

The song says :

Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth

Would care to know my name

Would care to feel my hurt

Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star

Would choose to light the way

For my ever wandering heart

I am a flower quickly fading

Here today and gone tomorrow

A wave tossed in the ocean

Vapor in the wind

Still You hear me when I'm calling

Lord, You catch me when I'm falling

And You've told me who I am

I am Yours, I am Yours

Who am I, that the eyes that see my sin

Would look on me with love and watch me rise again

Who am I, that the voice that calmed the sea

Would call out through the rain

And calm the storm in me

Not because of who I am

But because of what You've done

Not because of what I've done

But because of who You are.

The Bible clearly tells us who we are. We are God's children. Heirs to His kingdom. What a blessing and a comfort I found in that. Knowing that with Him the road I was on had already been traveled by Him.

Without Him the road I had to travel would have been a difficult one. It would have been difficult because there would have been no True Hope. The Hope that in slowing down I could get over the bump, the Hope that made me think if there is a better way to go, and the Hope that if I stopped and made a u-turn I would still arrive at my destination.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT) says. "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me."

The Lord has a plan for my life and has mapped out my life and yes I have will have bumps, potholes and detours, but thru Christ I can do all things. It just depends on what I am are doing with God's Son. So I leave you with a few questions :

  • Are you reading/listening to His Map daily? God's Word
  • Are you asking for His directions and them listening for His directions? Prayer
  • Are you stopping for fuel once or twice a week? Church
  • Are you visiting with those headed to the same destination? Fellowship

These are the questions you must answer for yourself, don't wait for the bump, or the pothole or the detour.

In Proverbs 4:20-27

"My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body. Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you.Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path.Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil. "

Then in Colossians 1:10 (NLT), says, "Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. "

Prayer:

Lord, as we travel our each individual life, I pray Father, that we follow your directions so that when our bumps, pothole, and detour come along, we have the guidance knowledge and directions that will lead us in the best possible direction to take us on the road to our heavenly home.

Amen!

Woke up with a cold today! You know that is no fun. At Western Christian High School where I work we have our Legacy Dinner and Silent Auction. My friend, KS, has been working so hard on making it such an awesome event and I am really looking forward to going. This year we are raising money for scholarships for those who are not able to send their students but would like to. Please pray that I feel a lot better and that the event is very very successful.

Love in Christ,

Addie's Birthday Decorations.

Happy Wednesday, last weekend we had Addie's 2nd Birthday and I thought you might be interested in seeing the decorations that my daughter, Elyse, put together for the party. Many of the ideas for the decorations she made came from Pinterest you can follow her here.

She chose not to go with a theme this time but chose to go with colors instead.

She chose pink, navy and gold.

Didn't she do a great job?

She is very talented on the computer. She made all the little signs for the desserts and drinks and made the banner. She printed out a picture of Addie and put it in a frame. You always need a picture of the birthday girl.

I frosted the cake but she made the little puff balls on little sticks to put on the cake.

She wanted a pink cake stand and all I had was crystal ones. But I did have a pink cake plate and some pink ice cream dishes. So she hot glued an upside down ice cream dish to the cake stand and it worked great. Then when the party was over, we washed the cake plate in warm water and the glue came off easily. Just as if it was never glued.

The Macaroons were amazing. I had never had them before. She purchased them at a cute little bakery called. Dolcissimo Bakeshop, they are in Chino Hills at The Shoppes.

We found these little bags at Hobby Lobby and they were perfect for the little notebook, and crayons she wanted to put in them to give Addie's friends. Then she painted stripes to match the colors she chose for the party's theme and a gold first initial for each of their names.

This was the little kid sized table she had for the itty bitties. She had some snacks, crayons and colorbook pictures for them to color.

Everything was just perfect. Everyone enjoyed themselves immensely.

I am so proud of my daughter. She has become such an excellent party planner.

Have a blessed day! God bless you!

Addie's 2nd Birthday

She loves her Bupa

Loves to explore in our backyard with Emmie!

Loves to play with balls!

She loves to run!

She loves to watch Roly Polys!

And loves to play in the mud!!

On Saturday when she woke up for her party she was a little shy,

But then she was so happy to see all of her grandma and grandpas in the same room!!

                                                  Lovin' on Momma!

Sharing with her buddy Brayden!

Dada and Addie eating some cupcake.

With her Grammie and Grampa Manion.

This is her Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Ferrel.

With her great aunt.

She loved getting pajamas!

She is too silly and had to have momma put the bucket on her head also.

By the end of the party she just wanted to settle down and read her books.

At the end of the party we got all the Sleight side and then the Manion side sit for a big pic. So Addie can look back and see who all came to her 2nd Birthday Party.

Thanks for reading the blog. Please leave any comments below.

Treasures N' Junk

I've had a great week off. Spent time with my daughter and grand daughter and had some time to rest and recharge for the coming weeks till school ends.

On Thursday I went to Treasures n' Junk Antique Mall.  Oh my gosh, if you love antiques you have to treat yourselves to a trip to this store. They have about 80 different vendors with all types of antiques. they are open everyday except for Tuesdays. You can checkout their blog here

This is the entrance. There is an old car, with old car parts and an old gas station pump. If you go with a friend it is a neat place to take a picture.

When you walk in you are greeted with many beautiful items.

This is one of my favorite vendors. It has many silver items and crystal items.

I fell in love with this vendor who paints these darling garden signs and sells them for fourteen dollars.

This vendor had the cutest burlap and lace runners.

There is an alcove between the two building and in the alcove they have built a little town. In each little building there is a vendor.

Here is my Ollie Dollie. Haha! doesn't it looks like she is dancin' on the board walk?
She looked adorable with her two little piggy tails.

This is the entrance to the second building. There are many vintage auto items for sale just right for those who are setting up a Man Cave.

I leave you with a picture of me at the vintage Park Ranger trailer they have in the back with many different patio items for sale. See my hair, it was just starting to come in after my four chemo treatments. This was taken sometime last August, 2012. I had a chance to go antiquing with a good friend and she snapped this picture of me.

Now for the treasures I purchased.

This week I was looking for items that were pink for my Mothers Day Mantel.  I purchased a piggy bank for my Ollie Dollie. Isn't it so cute. A glass measuring cup, which I will use many times while making my healthy smoothies. A chintz plate and a small French plate which I'm sure I will use when friends come a visiting and hopefully
incorporate them into my Mother's Day mantel.

When you go to antique stores do you go with a purpose or do you just go and buy what you find interesting?  I would love to hear from you so please leave a comment below.
