The Newest Addition! Avery Jane!

Well it started with a phone call from my son-in-law, asking if I could meet him to get my Ollie Dollie so he could go back to my daughter who was going to deliver my second granddaughter!! I was so excited that Avery Jane was on the way to meet us AND because I have not been allowed to drive my granddaughter anywhere!

I met them at the Corner Bakery where the were enjoying a little lunch. When it was time to go, the car seat went into my car and I put her in her in it and we headed to Toys R Us. It was our first time together going to Toys R Us, so we had to go down every isle. My Ollie Dollie is a girl with a strong opinion and she knows what she wants. We looked at every doll and she narrowed it down to three dollies she had to have. This is one of them.

And theses are the three!! As you can see she has her YaYa wrapped around her little finger.

We came back to the house and waited for Bupa to come home so I could go to the hospital for the arrival of Avery Jane!

When I got there everything was progressing well. Our little Avery Jane was well on her way!
The Doctor was already 1 1/2 hours on overtime, but she wanted to deliver this baby. What a blessing it was to have a sister in the Lord who works at the hospital you are delivering at. My daughter had wonderful nurses (Thanks Penny) had a huge room with a great view and a wonderful doctor. Everyone there were a blessing to us.
There were even fireworks for the babies arrival. (Sorry not very clear but it was thru a window.)
Welcome!! Avery Jane, 7lbs. 9 oz., 20 inches long.
Isn't she so sweet!!
The next day we got up and headed to the hospital so my Ollie Dollie could meet her new sister.
She was so happy to see her Dadda!
When she saw her little sister she got up on the bed with her momma and wanted to hold her sister and kiss her.
Isn't this the cutest! What could that little mind be thinking?
Her Bupa just fell in Love with her.
Introducing the family of four!!
Getting ready to go home!
In her car seat on the way home! The bow is made by my daughter and sold on her Etsy shop.
Ok which is which?? Can you guess?
Great grandma and great grandpa came to meet Avery Jane and they were smitten!

Well, I will leave you with a picture of the two sisters. I pray that The Lord grants these to an everlasting love for Him and each other, in Jesus' name , amen!
Thank you for visiting!!

My Birthday at Work!

Thursday, May 23rd, was my Birthday!! And as you can tell my co-workers like to do it up big!!

See all my favorites!! Pan Dulce (Mexican sweet bread) donuts, milk to go with all the sweets. Cheddar Cheese popcorn and A&W Rootbeer, a bouquet of WHITE flowers, and in the bag a cute miniature pen (because if you know me, you know I Love Pens) I always say, "Oh, you have a nice pen! If it's missing its probably at my desk!! Lol!!

Nice isn't it!!

See these crescent shaped wonderful sugar-filled bread cookies!! They are the best. You can pop them into the microwave for 20 seconds and have with a cold glass of ice and milk. Mmmmmmmm! To die for!

White Chedder Popcorn from Trader Joes! Goes with A&W Rootbeer really good.

I was also taken out to lunch with my friend Sonia. We had.......Mexican food of course! My favorite. Lol!! She gave me a pretty necklace, red of course, and my other friend Laura bought me the matching earrings.

Well, I am truly blessed! I work at a wonderful Christian high school with a wonderful staff and faculty. I had students, past and present, wish me a Happy Birthday, (I even had one student do a ballet for me) and the teachers came into the office and yelled HAPPY BIRTHDAY Kathy and shared dessert with me.

I also received posts on Facebook and Instagram all wishing me a Happy Birthday and texts from my family all saying they love me and have a Happy Birthday... I told you I was blessed.

Plus I have a Lord in Heaven who loves me so much He died on the cross for me even before I was born and who through this past year carried me through breast surgery, through 4 rounds of Chemotherapy and 30 radiation treatments. Whewwwwwwwww! I am loved.

THANK YOU everyone who made my 61st (shhhhh, don't tell anyone) birthday so special!!

What do you do for your birthday?? I would love you here from you!

Have a blessed Memorial Weekend!!

Happy Mothers Day!! A Tribute to my Mom.

My Mom was born to Ramon Prado and Ruby Arballo Prado. My grandfather was a barber who came here from Mexico. My grandma Ruby, I believe she was born here in California and fell in love with this man from Mexico. They had three children. My Uncle Ramon, my Mom and my Aunt Betty. From what my Aunt Betty says my mom was a goody two shoes, one who always did the right thing.

Here is a picture of my mom and her sister. My grandma had made their beautiful taffeta jumpers.
My mom met my dad and fell in love. They were married on March 11, 1951.
They had four children, me, the oldest, my brother Ernie, my brother Richard, and the baby, my sister Debbie.
We had a great upbringing. My mom was a great mom. Oh yea there was good times and bad times but my parents have always been there for me and my brothers and my sister.

My Mom is an amazing woman!! I think she would deny that and she would probably say she has so much more to learn in life. But since she has aged (no offense Mom!) and grown closer to our Lord. She has become an amazing Godly woman. I love her and truly believe she has become the Proverbs 31 woman. She is my inspiration in everything I do and don't do!!

My mom has the gift of hospitality and If you happen to visit her and my dad she will want to feed you.

Her house is beautifully decorated and clean to the max.

My Mom loves to sew and is always at it making something for her great grand children. For Easter she made each grandchild a small little blanket for them to carry. My Mom also has arthritis in her hands so believe me heart and soul go into everything she sews.

My Mom loves her garden!! She has a beautiful garden and works on it whenever she feels good. If I was on top of things I would have taken a picture of it because right now all the flowers are in bloom.

I love to hear her tell me stories of how The Lord as shown her how to live. She used to be a worry wart but know you can tell that the Lord's peace is with her. I love you Mom. I am so blessed that God gave me to you and you are my MOM! I am so very thankful that you are my Mom!

From my daughter, Elyse:

I love my Grammie. I can always remember her being at everything and always cheering me on. She has always been an example to me of a Godly woman, a mom and a grandma.

At Christmas she always read a story. When I was little I don't think I really appreciated them at the time but now looking back I love having those memories and I love listening to her stories now.

Now, having my own children, I love seeing her love on Addie, getting on the floor and playing with her, walking her around her garden and showing Addie all her flowers and fruit trees.

My grandma had the best house in Ontario, CA when I was growing up. I remember always having fun when I went over there. Playing my grandpa's piano, riding on their go kart and playing in the tree house. The treehouse was so unsafe but as a kid it was so much fun. Haha!!

I love you Grammie and love having you as my Grammie!

"Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is more precious than rubies. Her husband can trust her, and she will greatly enrich his life. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. She finds wool and flax and busily spins it. She is like a merchant’s ship, bringing her food from afar. She gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household and plan the day’s work for her servant girls. She goes to inspect a field and buys it; with her earnings she plants a vineyard. She is energetic and strong, a hard worker. She makes sure her dealings are profitable; her lamp burns late into the night. Her hands are busy spinning thread, her fingers twisting fiber. She extends a helping hand to the poor and opens her arms to the needy. She has no fear of winter for her household, for everyone has warm clothes. She makes her own bedspreads. She dresses in fine linen and purple gowns. Her husband is well known at the city gates, where he sits with the other civic leaders. She makes belted linen garments and sashes to sell to the merchants. She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness. She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness. Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her: “There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!” Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised. Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise." Proverbs 31:10-31 NLT

Happy MOTHER'S Day to all you Mommies!

May your day be filled with God's blessings!

Bows n' Ties n' Things

Good day!! I hope and pray you are having a great week. I have been wrestling with tiredness the last couple days. The Doc says that that a person can have repercussions from the Chemo for up to a year and a half. No fun, but better than having Cancer!!! Anyway....

Look at my Ollie Dollie. Isn't she precious? I still can't believe she is two!

Now see that cute little bow she is wearing. My daughter Elyse is making these cute bows, for little girls or big girls, to sell on Etsy. She is selling them in her Etsy shop here.

She is also making small clutches to carry your wallet, phone and lipstick in.

It has been fun to collaborate with her on her projects and help her in whatever ways needed. A lot of the time I play with My Ollie Dollie, who is always saying, "Come here Yaya!!" And dragging me to see the lizards that are sunning themselves on the concrete wall in the backyard.

I feel so blessed!!!

"Give thanks to The Lord, for He is good! His faithful love endures forever."

1Chronicles 16:34

Be blessed!

The Road Traveled

As we cruise through life as I did, we find that along the way there are bumps and holes in the road. Some of these are speed bumps which make you slow down, some are bumps that make you stop and think, some are pot holes that cause you to take a detour. As you go through life you will see those bumps and pot holes and detours pop up every so often. My cancer was a stop and think bump. There is a song by Casting Crowns called "Who am I?". That is what my bump was asking me.

The song says :

Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth

Would care to know my name

Would care to feel my hurt

Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star

Would choose to light the way

For my ever wandering heart

I am a flower quickly fading

Here today and gone tomorrow

A wave tossed in the ocean

Vapor in the wind

Still You hear me when I'm calling

Lord, You catch me when I'm falling

And You've told me who I am

I am Yours, I am Yours

Who am I, that the eyes that see my sin

Would look on me with love and watch me rise again

Who am I, that the voice that calmed the sea

Would call out through the rain

And calm the storm in me

Not because of who I am

But because of what You've done

Not because of what I've done

But because of who You are.

The Bible clearly tells us who we are. We are God's children. Heirs to His kingdom. What a blessing and a comfort I found in that. Knowing that with Him the road I was on had already been traveled by Him.

Without Him the road I had to travel would have been a difficult one. It would have been difficult because there would have been no True Hope. The Hope that in slowing down I could get over the bump, the Hope that made me think if there is a better way to go, and the Hope that if I stopped and made a u-turn I would still arrive at my destination.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT) says. "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me."

The Lord has a plan for my life and has mapped out my life and yes I have will have bumps, potholes and detours, but thru Christ I can do all things. It just depends on what I am are doing with God's Son. So I leave you with a few questions :

  • Are you reading/listening to His Map daily? God's Word
  • Are you asking for His directions and them listening for His directions? Prayer
  • Are you stopping for fuel once or twice a week? Church
  • Are you visiting with those headed to the same destination? Fellowship

These are the questions you must answer for yourself, don't wait for the bump, or the pothole or the detour.

In Proverbs 4:20-27

"My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body. Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you.Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path.Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil. "

Then in Colossians 1:10 (NLT), says, "Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. "

Prayer:

Lord, as we travel our each individual life, I pray Father, that we follow your directions so that when our bumps, pothole, and detour come along, we have the guidance knowledge and directions that will lead us in the best possible direction to take us on the road to our heavenly home.

Amen!

Woke up with a cold today! You know that is no fun. At Western Christian High School where I work we have our Legacy Dinner and Silent Auction. My friend, KS, has been working so hard on making it such an awesome event and I am really looking forward to going. This year we are raising money for scholarships for those who are not able to send their students but would like to. Please pray that I feel a lot better and that the event is very very successful.

Love in Christ,
